UK’s iconic Jazz Dance Master, DOLLIE HENRY, is coming to Munich – this Masterclass is a „MUST-DO!“ for every dancer who wishes to understand, feel and experience the true foundation of Jazz Dance.

What to expect:
Dollie’s Jazz dance theatre masterclasses offer an open inclusive space for all dancers to development creatively and artistically, mentally, and physically as dancers, staying true to the spirit of Jazz and that of individual expression. The Masterclasses provide a full BOP Jazz technical warm-up, to enhance flexibility, stamina, and strength, supported by jazz music to facilitate aural understanding, musicality and timing. This leads to the learning a fun and energized jazz dance technique combinations across the floor that explore the creative elements of the jazz dance aesthetics and delivery. Finally, finishing with the practical experience through the learning of BOP Company repertoire, that will put the emphasis on performance and delivery of jazz dance. Dollie’s Jazz masterclasses offer an enriching, engaging and enlightening creative dance experience for all to be informed, involved and inspired through the art form of the Jazz Dance idiom.

Dollie has led a respected career of 45 years as a theatre performer, choreographer, theatre director, jazz artist and practioner and is recognised as one of the most formidable exponents of artsic and creative jazz dance and theatre dance, both in the UK and globally.
Dollie is Founder/Artistic Director of BOP Jazz Theatre Company. Now in its 27th year, the company has produced and performed an array of Jazz Dance, Music Theatre production ns and repertoire that continues to raise the plaKorm for the Art form of Jazz Theatre. Through the company and her freelance engagements. Dollie’s creative works continue to be commissioned and performed by dance companies, dance artists and within theatre venues worldwide.
Dollie’s creative and educational reputation is widely revered and respected, alongside her breadth of work ranging from – Director/Choreographer and Movement Director on West End Theatre Productions, Theatre Plays, Films, TV to Concert Dance, Jazz Theatre productions and Dance Theatre Productions.
Dollie holds the position of Jazz Lecturer/Choreographer at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Mountview Arts, PPA Academy Guildford & ICT Theatre Brighton and is Associate Member of ISTD and Honorary Member of IDTA. Her other roles as a creative professional include, Patron of IDTA, The Hammond School and Ignite Dance Company. As a creative mentor, Dollie is instrumental in developing and steering the careers of many dancers and creatives now employed in established dance companies, musical theatre productions and concert dance shows across the globe.
Dollie is recognised as an active, passionate, and forward-thinking voice, as a consultant and advisor supporting EDI representation within creative arts education and performing arts sector. Her main thrust is in continuing to share her knowledge and expertise to create positive and progressive changes for the jazz art form and creative exponents that hail from the black dance diaspora. In January 2021, Dollie & Paul initiated Jazz Theatre Arts UK in partnership with One Dance UK to
share, support and serve on behalf of the UK Jazz Arts Community of dance artists, creatives and practitioners and uphold the correct history, context, and legacy of the jazz art form, whilst advocating for UK Jazz Arts and the next generation of aspiring jazz artists and dancers.
In collaboration with her jazz composer husband Paul Jenkins, Dollie is co-author of the the highly successful book ‘The EssenGal Guide to Jazz Dance’. Published by Crowood Press: Essen-al Guide to Jazz Dance by Dollie Henry & Paul Jenkins.
In June 2022, Dollie was recognised on the Queens Platinum Jubilee Birthday Honours List receiving the award of ‘MBE’ for ‘Services to Dance’.
